Dmitry Mikhailovich Klimov (born July 13, 1933 , Likhoslavl ) - Soviet and Russian mechanical scientist, specialist in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics , mechanics of a deformable solid; author of works on the mechanics of gyroscopic systems . Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences ( 1992 ), Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences ( 1965 ), Professor ( 1974 ). Laureate of the USSR State Prize ( 1976 ) and the State Prize of the Russian Federation ( 1994 ).

Biography
He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University (1955), completed his thesis under the guidance of N. G. Chetaev .
He worked at the Research Institute of Parachute Systems , the Institute of Applied Mechanics .
Since 1967 he has been working at the Institute of Mechanics Problems of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (now - RAS), from 1990 to 2004 - director of the institute.
In December 1991, D. M. Klimov was elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Mechanics and Control Processes, and in June 1992 - a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Control Processes. Since 1996 - Academic Secretary of the Department, since 2001 - Deputy. Academician-Secretary of the Branch.
Member of European Academy of Sciences. Winner of the B. Pascal Prize.
Editor-in-chief of the journal Izvestiya RAN. Solid Mechanics. ”
The main scientific works are devoted to the mechanics of gyroscopic and navigation systems, the mechanics of a deformable solid, the theory of oil and gas wells.
