Albion Rovers and scots Albion Rovers FC ) is a Scottish football club from the city of Cotbridge , playing in the Second League of Scotland . It was founded in 1882 by the merger of the Albion and Rovers teams. Since 1919, home games have been held at Cliftonhill Stadium, which seats 1,572 spectators. The club joined the second division of the Scottish League in 1903 , but in 1915 the second division was liquidated and Albion Rovers began to play in the Western Football League. In the 1919/20 season, the club returned to the Scottish League, joining the first division, in the same year the team achieved its main achievement in history by reaching the final of the Scottish Cup in which, with a score of 2: 3, lost to the Kilmarnock team. In the 1921/22 season, “Albion Rovers” achieved its highest achievement in the Scottish championships, taking 11th place in the first division, the highest division of Scotland at that time. In total, the Albion Rovers top division spent 9 seasons, the last of which was the 1948/49 season. In recent years, the club plays in the second and third divisions of the Scottish League, respectively, the third and fourth strongest divisions in the country.
