Neoplan Electroliner

Neoplan Electroliner is a universal duobus manufactured by Neoplan since 1999 . Its peculiarity lies in the fact that it can work like a bus, and like a trolley bus, while having 2 MAN engines and a set of traction electrical equipment. Such models are available as 12-meter and 18.7-meter (articulated).

Description of models

The Neoplan Electroliner Dobus is well suited for working in large cities and transporting a significant number of passengers. There are two types of machines - 12-meter single-section and 18.75-meter two-section articulated models. The body of both models of the carriage layout, bearing. The height of the duobus ranges from 2.86 to 3.08 meters; Modified Electroliner models (model N6221) are about 20 centimeters higher than normal. In width, they reach 2.51-2.53 meters.

The body layout is more inherent in rounded shapes with a direct rear axle and a curved front end over the entire height. The front is divided into several parts, the number of headlights on the sides is 3 pieces on each side, they can be covered with each lens glass or one lens stretched over all the headlights. The panoramic windshield is curved over its entire height, partially tinted in brown. The brand logo of Neoplan is located with a slight slope to the left. Lining made of steel and metal, the wheels of the second and third axles are hidden under the modling. The electrical kit is located on the second section; in a single-section duobus - as standard, in the middle of the body. The diesel engine is located inside the rear panel. The taillights are made in the style of "Neoplan" - the latest futuristic design.

Like the bus counterparts, the Electroliner is a completely low-floor duobus, there are no steps to the cabin. Doors of the 18-meter - double, except for the front (one of the modifications of the articulated duobus); at the 12-meter - all double doors. In the first section of the 18-meter, there are 3 doors, in the second - only 1 set, the doors are swing-slide type with anti-pinch drive, all are glazed.

The duobus is suitable for transporting people with disabilities in wheelchairs; for this, a platform is allocated in the front section. The floor is covered with linoleum or does not have a secondary coating. Thin handrails made of steel pipe. The side windows are tinted in dark brown. The seats are soft, separate type, covered with anti-vandal fabric, well cleaned. Seating capacity of about 50 pieces in the articulated and 30 in the standard duobus. The accordion of the articulated steel duobus bends well up to 38-40 °. At the same time, the joint assembly is completely safe and allows you to stand on it. Where the knot ends, the accordion links are increased in width and fully attached to the knot, creating the greatest possible security. Composters are either on the wall or on the railing.

The driver's cab is completely separated from the passenger compartment, there is a large glass for viewing the passenger compartment. Only a 12-meter duobus can accommodate 105 people, an 18.7-meter one can accommodate up to 175 people. The duobus is equipped with two MAN D engines, an electric motor and a MAN D diesel engine. The thyristor-pulse control system makes it possible to save electricity.

Advantages of Neoplan Electroliner

  • low floor - makes it possible for passengers to quickly exit the passenger compartment, convenient for people with limited mobility.
  • futuristic car design
  • the ability to work on eco-diesel and from contact networks
  • both engines are equal and the bus does not lose speed when driving in bus or trolley mode
  • great maneuverability of both duobuses
  • increased body service life
  • the car almost does not pollute the environment (rides on eco-diesel and from contact networks)
  • high passenger capacity
  • good sun protection, powerful tinting
  • lighting equipment (high beam) is equipped with lenses

Bus Analogs

The Neoplan Electroliner models are based on the respective Neoplan Centroliner buses:

  • Neoplan N4516 - a 12-meter low-floor bus, adapted for transportation in cities, a normal capacity of 105 people, dimensions 12000 × 3130 × 2510; Solaris Bus & Coach is developing a modification of the Neoplan N4516P.
  • Neoplan N4522 - an 18-meter low-floor bus designed to transport especially large masses of people within major cities; increased capacity of 165 people; Solaris Bus & Coach is developing a modification of the Neoplan N4522P.
