Geographical position
The village of Emelevo is located 5 km from the village of Elasy and 31 km from Kozmodemyansk . The Mari name of the village is translated as "limes" due to the presence of linden forests near the village.
Economics
The main occupation of local residents is agriculture. According to 2001 data, 14 people worked in the Yelasovsky SEC, 30 people worked on personal farmsteads, 6 on seasonal work, and 48 people on other households.
Population
As of January 1, 2001, there were 115 yards in the village of Emelevo, including 14 empty ones. The population was 237 people (90 men and 147 women).
History
For the first time in documents, the village as the village of Emelevo was mentioned in 1795 . In 1872, the village became the center of an Orthodox parish and was transformed into a village.
From the end of the 18th century until the beginning of the 20th century, the village first entered the Bolshe-Yunginsky and then the Malo-Karachkinsky volosts of the Kozmodemyansk district of the Kazan province . In 1918-1921 it became the center of the volost, in 1921-1931 it became the center of the Kozmodemyansk canton of the same name, in 1936 - 1959 it became the center of the Emelevsky rural council of the Elas district, and since 1959 it has been part of the Gornomariysky district.
