Biography

Victor Grigoriev Utkov was born on March 28 ( April 10 ) 1912 in the volost village Sychevsky of the Kurgan district of the Tobolsk province , now the village of Sychevo is the administrative center of the Sychevsky village council of the Vargashinsky district of the Kurgan region . In the year of the birth of Viktor’s son, his father, a native of the peasants of the village of Zolotoe, Baydarsky volost (now the Polovinsky district ) Grigory Grigoryev Utkov, held the post of Sychevsky volost clerk [2] .

In 1915 he moved with his family to Omsk . After graduation, he worked as a tool mechanic at the Sibzavod, a librarian, a field technician at the Omsk experimental agricultural station. In 1931-1935 he studied at the Omsk Veterinary Institute in the department of reindeer herding, but did not work in the specialty received. After graduation, he became an editorial staff member of the regional newspaper "Leninsky Grandchildren", then headed the literary part of the Omsk Drama Theater. At the end of the 30s he published his first essays in magazines: Omsk Region and Siberian Lights. In 1939, his first book was published - an essay on the wonderful breeder N.V. Tsitsin “Wonderful Wheat” (Omsk, 1939). In 1937-1941 he worked as executive secretary of the Omsk regional association of Soviet writers and journalists. Until 1953, he worked in the journal "Physical Culture and Sport", knew many athletes, was friends with climbers, and he himself was engaged in mountaineering [3] . In 1953-1982 he worked in the All-Union Book Trade Association Soyuzkniga of the Glavizdat of the USSR Ministry of Culture. He served on the board of the Club of Book Lovers at the Central House of Writers , as well as on the editorial board of the Central Board of the All-Union Society of Book Lovers. He was a famous bibliophile - over 10 thousand volumes on the history and culture of Siberia, the Urals, the Far East, and Central Asia were included in his personal library. Victor G. Utkov died on February 8, 1988 in Moscow . Buried in Moscow .

For more than forty years, Viktor Utkov was a close friend of Leonid Martynov . After the death of the poet, he participated in the publication of his legacy, was among the compilers of the only scientifically commented edition of the poet’s poems “Poems and poems. L, 1986 ", as well as the collection" Memoirs of Leonid Martynov. M., 1986 "; participated in the Martynov readings in 1983 in Omsk.

April 10, 2012 marks one hundred years since the birth of Viktor Utkov. Commemorative events and exhibitions were held in Tobolsk (in the historical and architectural museum), Ishim (in the Pyotr Yershov Cultural Center) and Omsk (opening of the exhibition “In Search of the Connection of Times” in the Literary Museum).
