Nobilization ( Polish. Nobilitacja , from the Latin. Nobilis - noble, high-born, well-born, noble, aristocratic) - the legal form of the inclusion of a non- nobleman in the nobility .
In Poland, known from the XIII century. The nobility's nobility until 1578 (before Stefan Batory ) was made by the Polish king, at the same time former and Grand Duke of Lithuania, and was confirmed by the privileges (or letters) issued for his signature with the image of the coat of arms. After 1578 the grant of the nobility in the civil line was granted only to the general Diet . It was carried out by the promulgation of the family name and its introduction on the basis of the decision of the Sejm in the acts that were part of the collection of laws ( Volumina Legum ).
The nobility 's nobility award for military merit was granted to hetmans , with subsequent approval by the general diet. At the same time privileges were also granted. Since 1775, the mobilized also had to possess land ownership. In 1789, an increased payment for a diploma for a complete nobility was introduced - 18,000 zlotys.
The Constitution of May 3, 1791 allowed the possibility of a mobilization for the townspeople. In general, in the entire history of the Commonwealth about 1600 people were mobilized. Most of all, nobilitations (about 800) occurred during the reign of Stanislav Augustus , who, besides this, spent bypassing the diet t. "Secret mobilization". Also, the Kraków bishops carried out the mobilization, claiming this right as the princes of Seversk, but in Poland they were not recognized until the accession of the principality.
