Segoe is a family of humanistic grotesque style fonts , best known for its use by Microsoft in its products, online publications, and marketing materials, including logos. The Segoe UI font subfamily is used in many Microsoft applications and comes with them (for example, Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Live Messenger 2009). It is also the default system font since Windows Vista and is used in outlook.com mail service. In August 2012, Microsoft introduced its new logo in Segoe font, which replaced the logo that has been used for the past 25 years.

The Segoe brand is owned by Microsoft, although the original headset was developed by Monotype .

History
The Segoe headset was developed by Steve Mattson during his time at Agfa Monotype . The font was licensed by Microsoft for use in branded purposes and as a font for interfaces and was designed taking into account the requirements of friendliness and readability. Mattson created a set of fonts of various weights and italics in terms of humanistic style.
