Biography

Dashkevich Alexander Diomidovich was born on March 1, 1912 in a peasant family in the village of Krapivno, Orsha district, Mogilev province . He studied in 1927-1930 at the Vitebsk Art College, in 1934-1940 at IZHSA at the All-Russian Academy of Arts in Leningrad. He studied with Sergei Priselkov , Semyon Abugov , Alfred Eberling , Mikhail Fedorov, Isaac Brodsky . In 1940 he graduated from the institute in the workshop of I. I. Brodsky with the title of artist of painting. Thesis - the painting "The Decembrist Uprising" [2] .

After graduating from the institute in 1940-1947 he worked as the chief artist of the Kamchatka Regional Theater in Petropavlovsk in Kamchatka, the Nikolaev Regional Drama Theater in Nikolaev on the Amur, he headed the board of the Khabarovsk Territory Union of Soviet Artists, designing over 25 performances in theaters of the Far East over the years. After returning to Leningrad, he taught at the Leningrad Art and Pedagogical College .

Participant of exhibitions since 1940. Member of LSSH since 1949. He painted portraits, thematic compositions, landscapes. In 1965-1970 he worked in a team of restorers on the reconstruction of the monumental painting of the Catherine Palace in Pushkin. Among the works created by A. Dashkevich in easel painting are the paintings “To the Village for Bread” [3] (1957), “On the Shores of Lake Baikal” [4] (1959), “Family on the Beach” [5] (1960), “ Long-range volunteers " [6] (1961)," From night sowing " [7] ," At the construction site "," At Baikal " [8] (all 1964)," At the console " [9] (1975) and others.

He died on June 15, 1984 in Leningrad at the 73rd year of his life.

The works of A. D. Dashkevich are in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
