Biography
A.E. Tyulkin was born on August 19 (30), 1888 in the city of Ufa to the family of the peasant Porfiry Ananievich Sokolov and Varvara Andreeva. In January 1901, the boy was adopted by Erast Elizarievich Tyulkin [1] , received the surname and patronymic of his stepfather.
The artist received his first drawing lessons from his father. From 1912 to 1918 he studied painting at the Kazan Art School (now the Kazan Art School named after NI Feshin; 1918). Artists Feshin, Nikolai Ivanovich , Pavel Petrovich Benkov (1879-1949) were the teachers of Tyulkin. After graduation, Tyulkin returned to Ufa.
He was fond of "analytical impressionism", was a member of the Ufa artistic circle of the artist Burliuk .
In the 1920s he was the organizer of the Ufa branch of the Higher State Artistic and Technical Studios, traveled to the districts of Bashkiria, where he studied the life and culture of the Bashkirs; participated in an expedition to Central Asia in order to purchase exhibits for the Museum of Oriental Peoples in Ufa. In the early 1930s he traveled with creative missions to the industrial centers of the Urals ( Beloretsk , Magnitogorsk , Zlatoust ), the area of oil fields in Bashkiria ( Ishimbay ), the state farm "Krasnaya Bashkiria".
In addition to easel, Tyulkin was engaged in monumental painting. Participated in exhibitions of the Ufa Society of Art Lovers (1917-1918). Member AHRR (1926, 1928), headed the Ufa branch of the Association (1925). Participant of the anniversary exhibition of the art of the peoples of the USSR in Moscow (1927), the exhibition “Artists of the outskirts” in San Diego (1929). He held solo exhibitions in Ufa (1943. 1966), Leningrad (1963) and Moscow (1975). Since 1937 - member of the Union of Artists of the USSR; in 1937–1944 - Chairman of the Board of the Union of Artists of the BASSR.

He taught drawing to orphans in the school of the first stage to them. V.I. Lenin, in the Chuvash Pedagogical Technical School (first half of the 1920s).
From 1926 to 1950 he taught at the art department of the Bashkir State Technical School of Arts (from 1936, the Theater and Art School ( UUI )).
He brought up a whole generation of Bashkir artists. Among them: B. Domashnikov, A. Panteleev, F. Kascheev, M. Nazarov, A. Lutfullin , P. Salmasov, A. Kudryavtsev [2] [3] , Kuznetsov MD , and others. In the 50s - In the 60s, his students managed to create an “Ufa style of painting” easily recognizable in the USSR: bold, fresh, textured, bright in color [4] .
A. E. Tyulkin was married twice. The first wife, Agisheva Maria Martemyanovna (app. 1878-1946), the second wife, Antonina Nikolaevna Mikhailova. (1909–2003)
Tyulkin's works are in many museum collections, including the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Art Museum of the Peoples of the East, the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan in Ufa, the Bashkir State Art Museum named after M. Nesterov and others. In Ufa, open Memorial House-Museum of the artist .
The grandson of Alexander Erastovich, Vladimir Erastovich Tyulkin (b. 1951) [5] is a marine painter, marine officer.
Creativity
The predominant theme of creativity is the image of the city, the Bashkir region, the Urals: “Yard at the Dacha” (1919), “Hortensia” (1920), “Flowering Windows” (1924), “Golubets” (1942), “In Nesterov's Homeland” (1946 ) [6] , “Holiday on the outskirts” (1948), “Silence” (1946), “Carousel” (1923), “Boats” (1927), “Houses in a ravine” (1928, all in the State Rus. the museum), “The interior of the wooden mosque”, “The Potter’s Shop”, “The Yurt” (all three in 1921), “The Minor Demon” (1925).
He made a panel in the building of the Railway Administration and the House of Culture of Railwaymen (1930s). Participated in the design of the pavilion at the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition (1939; together with A. P. Lezhnev, I. I. Uryadov).

Memory
Since 1995, a memorial House, the Museum of the National Artist A. Tulkina , has been working in Ufa [7] . In this house A.E. Tyulkin lived from 1922 until the end of his life.
In Ufa there is a children's art school named after A. E. Tyulkin.
The most prestigious in the republic are the Open Republican Contest of Children's Artistic Works, established by the Ministry of Culture and National Policy of the Republic of Bashkortostan. A.E. Tyulkina (the initiator is the Children's Art School No. 2 of the city of Ufa).
