Jawaharlal Nehru University is a public research university in Delhi , India . About 5500 students study at the university and about 550 teachers work. The university consists of ten schools.

The university was established in 1969 by a parliamentary decree and named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru . The initiator of the creation of the university was the daughter of Nehru, Indira Gandhi , and G. Parthasarathi, who took the post of vice rector after the establishment of the university.
For decades, a prominent Indian expert in European and Russian history, Madhavan Kezhkepat Palat , taught here. His scientific and research activities contributed to the understanding of the history, culture, literature and social life of Russia [1] [2] .
In 2012, President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev became an honorary doctor of the university [3] .

Partnership with Russia
- On May 5, 2015, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the National Research Tomsk State University , the purpose of which is scientific and educational cooperation.
