7th European Football Championship - held in seven cities in France from June 12 to June 27, 1984 . Eight teams took part in the final stage: 7 winners of the qualifying groups and the French team as hostess of the tournament. She also became the owner of the trophy.

In comparison with the previous championship, the championship scheme has changed slightly: 8 teams were divided into two subgroups as before, but the two best teams from each played butt semifinal matches among themselves. Match for 3rd place, starting from this championship, was not held.
This championship was the benefit of the French national team (the “team of musketeers ”), who won the international tournament for the first time, and Michel Platini as a player who managed to hit the opponents' goal 9 times in 5 matches.
