elgooG ("LGU") is a mirror of the Google search engine. All text on the page, including search results, is displayed backwards. The name "google mirror" is a parody of the network term mirror , which denotes a copy of another site . This page was created by the All Too Flat group, known for its satirical web pages that can be seen on their website. Google itself was not involved in the creation of elgooG.
In December 2002, New Scientist magazine reported that this site became popular in China , where the state blocked access to the main Google site. Since elgooG did not support Chinese encodings , only results in Latin were given to users. Now (as of 2012), after the introduction of self-censorship of search results by Chinese Google, it is available in China without restrictions [1] .
