Story
Mr. Morris Lessmore sits on an open balcony in the French Quarter of New Orleans and writes memoirs. Suddenly a hurricane flies up, blows the letters just written from the book, demolishes Morris himself, completely destroys the city. He wanders the streets, strewn with sheets of books, and goes into the suburbs. There Morris sees a young beautiful girl who flies above him, flying upwards with the help of flying books. She sends him one of them: Humpty Dumpty is depicted on every page in different poses and with different emotions; quickly turning over, the pages of this book make it almost lively and completely reasonable. Humpty Dumpty calls on Morris to follow him. They come to a library filled with anthropomorphic books, but uninhabited. Portraits of people hang on the wall, the last of them in a row is that very flying girl.
Morris becomes the curator of the library, lives there, takes care of books, in particular, in the literal sense of the word, the first edition of Jules Verne, which collapsed from decay, saves from death from decay. Soon, he continues to write his memoirs.
Many years passed, Morris grew old, but finished his book. Fully satisfied with the work of his life, he goes to the exit of the library, followed by a blinding white light. Books sadly accompany him, and flying books lift the rejuvenated Morris up, like that girl many years ago. Very soon, another young girl appears on the threshold of the library, who enthusiastically begins to read memoirs written by Morris Lessmore ...
