Taxonomy
The species was described by Carl Linnaeus under the name Aster chinensis L. Sp. Pl. 2: 877 . In 1825, the species was isolated by Alexander Cassini as an independent genus Callistephus Cass.Dict. Sci. Nat. (ed. 2) , 37: 491 (1825). For some time, the species was known as Callistephus hortensis . The combination of Callistephus chinensis ( L. ) Nees is now recognized as the actual name of this species. Gen. Sp. Aster. 222-223 (1832).
The following names are included in the synonymy of the species [4] :

Biological Description
The birthplace of Chinese callistefus is China . This is an annual erect herb; abundantly bushy, has a height of 20 to 90 cm. The leaves are green, oval, serrated.
It blooms in the summer, the flowering time is relatively small. Inflorescence is a basket , in some varieties reaching 10 cm in diameter. Marginal flowers can be of various colors, from white and light pink to dark red, purple and blue; in shape they can be either straight or resembling bird feathers [5] .
Usage

Callistefus Chinese - a popular garden ornamental plant; It is used both for flower beds , and for cutting [5] .
Many varieties have been developed ; they differ both in the height of the plants and in the characteristics of flower inflorescences, which may differ in shape, structure, and color [3] . The series of Milady varieties is widely known, the plants of which have a height of up to 30 cm and terry flowers of various colors [5] .
Agricultural Engineering
Plants are suitable for growing in regions with very different climates ( frost resistance zones - from 6 to 10). Fertile, well- drained soil is best suited. For high grades, support may be needed. Due to the susceptibility of callistefus to a disease such as astral wilt , it is recommended to grow plants in the same place with a break of at least two to three years [5] .
Plants are propagated by sowing in soil in the spring. Due to the fact that the duration of flowering plants is relatively short, it is recommended to sow or plant seedlings in several periods in order to extend the total flowering time . Tall varieties require support [5] .
