Beatles VI reached number one on the Billboard chart in six weeks, starting July 10, 1965 .
This LP album was also released in New Zealand before Christmas 1966. The stamped discs (pressing plates) were obtained from EMI (United Kingdom) and are identical to their export only edition of the album. The name of the album is read as “Beatles VI” (“Beatles Six”), catalog number PCSM 6042.
The album has also been released on CD as part of the box set The Capitol Albums, Volume 2 in both (stereo and mono) versions (catalog number CDP 0946 3 57499 2 2)
Music
Beatles VI includes two tracks recorded specifically for the North American market: [3] Bad Boy and Dizzy Miss Lizzy , both covers covers of Larry Williams songs, and both were recorded on Williams's birthday ( May 10, 1965 ); this is probably the only time The Beatles recorded material specifically for the North American market. "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" was soon also included in the British edition of the album Help! , but “Bad Boy” was not published on The Beatles albums either in the UK or anywhere in the world until the release in 1966 of the collection A Collection of Beatles Oldies .
Beatles VI also contains:
- six tracks from the Beatles for Sale album, not included in the Beatles '65 album
- the song “ Yes It Is ”, published on the “B” side of the single “ Ticket to Ride ”. This is a “ duophonic ” stereo remix of the original mono track, with the addition of “echo” and “reverb” effects.
- two tracks from the upcoming Help album release in the UK ! : “ You Like Me Too Much ” and “ Tell Me What You See ”
As in the Beatles for Sale , a bundle (medley) of two songs, “ Kansas City ” / “ Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, ” was originally named in the list of album tracks only as “Kansas City”. After the Venice Music lawyers notified Capitol about the error, it was fixed on the sticker on the disc itself (“nickle”), but not on the cover of the disc.
