Since September 27, 1937, the Nikiforov district, among 48 other districts, began to belong to the newly formed Tambov region . Later, the Nikiforov district was abolished and its territory entered the Tambov and Michurinsky areas . On January 13, 1965, by the decision of the Tambov Oblast Executive Committee, the Nikiforov District was again formed with its center in the village ( from 09/09/1966 - a working village ) Dmitrievka .

A. Erin, a large number of housing and socio-cultural institutions were built in the village of Dmitriyevka. With the transfer of Yuri Alekseevich from the Nikiforov district to work in the Ministry of Agriculture, the pace of development of the district center was reduced many times.

In the future, it is expected that a system of school training for pupils in short-stay groups that will be created in large schools will work. Since 2002, cellular communications of the GSM - 900/1800 standard began to operate in the region. This made it possible for the population of the Nikiforov district to use federal cellular communications. In 2004, an updated MTS Si - 2000 tower was installed at the district center, and a MTS Si - 2000/320 tower was installed in the village of Saburo-Pokrovskoye. In the village of Yekaterinino there is a unique and most beautiful monument, a living natural monument - a dendrological park with an area of about 40 hectares, founded in the XIX century by the landowner A. Ushakov. It is declared a natural monument of national importance. In Catherine Park, there are more than 230 species of trees and shrubs.

Among the historical monuments of the region is the so-called Tatar rampart , which at one time served as a defense against attacks by nomadic tribes and the Tatar-Mongolian cavalry. It was an integral part of a complex serif line, stretching from Belgorod to Simbirsk , and is now recognized as a unique monument of archeology, ancient fortification, history and nature. Now this monument is under state protection.

In the district, a park of regional significance in the village of Saburo-Pokrovskoye is known and protected by the state.

On the territory of the district, the Polnovsky reserve is established, which was created to restore the numbers of brown hare (Lepus europaeus), gray partridge (Perdix perdix) and Russian desman (Desmana moschata).

In the regional center, work has begun on the construction of a new church, instead of the existing small church of St. John the Evangelist, small and cramped.

In r.p. Dmitriyevka was born in 1970 and grew up Andrei Mikhalev, a sailor, a bastard engineer who died heroically on the K-278 Komsomolets nuclear submarine on April 7, 1989 in the Norwegian Sea.

Heroism Nikiforovites

There are many heroic pages in the history of the region. Perhaps one of the most tragic is connected with the Great Patriotic War . More than 14 thousand Nikiforovites were called up during the war to the ranks of the Red Army. 6436 names of soldiers who did not return home were recorded in the regional Book of Remembrance. They, like those who came home with victory, honorably fulfilled their duty as defenders of the Fatherland. The whole country learned about the exploits of many of them. Five became Heroes of the Soviet Union - these are A. T. Makarov, I. I. Grishaev, A. N. Mikhin, N. Ya. Medvedev , E. V. Shkurdalov. Full holders of the orders of Glory are E. N. Koltyukov, I. M. Rastyapin, I. P. Ledenev. Over 6 thousand Nikiforites were awarded orders and medals.

But not only on the fronts forged victory. Behind the rear, people also accomplished feats, working with unprecedented tension. Almost 2.5 thousand Nikiforovites were awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."

Residents of the region provided all possible assistance to the warrior heroes with their hard work, their material help and care. The Nikiforovites unanimously supported the initiative of the workers of the Izberdeevsky district to raise funds for the construction of the tank column "Tambov collective farmer." They collected 559 thousand rubles. For the construction of the squadron and armored trains, the residents of the region transferred 125,600 rubles.

Young people did not stand aside. In 1943, the Komsomol district gathered 98 thousand rubles for the construction of the torpedo boat "Nikiforovsky Komsomolets." The sailors proudly carried the Soviet naval flag in the waters of the Baltic. On their account several sunken enemy ships and transports.

In the early years of the war, the First Guards and Third Long-Range Aviation Regiments were based at the airfield in Nikiforovka. Residents of the region rendered all possible assistance to the pilots, did everything for the normal functioning of the airfield. About this in his memoirs writes one of the pilots of the 1st air regiment A.N. Bodnar.
