Biography

Grigory Beruashvili was born in 1916 in Tbilisi . In 1941 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since the beginning of World War II on its fronts. By September 1943, the Red Army soldier Beruashvili commanded the detachment of the 132nd separate combat engineer battalion of the 38th Rifle Division of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [2] .

On September 23-30, 1943, in the vicinity of the village of Grigorovka, Kanevsky district, Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR, Beruashvili took an active part in organizing the transport of 20 guns, 35 mortars , 3 anti-aircraft machine guns , 900 boxes of ammunition, and 1,500 fighters. On the night of September 25-26, 1943, when he was damaged by steam with a gun, Beruashvili was able to quickly close all the holes and thereby save the cargo [2] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944, Red Army soldier Georgy Berdashvili was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [2] .

He died in battle on January 14, 1944. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Bosovka, Lysyansky district, Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR [2] .

He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a medal [2] .
