2012 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship (Women)

2012 World Junior Women's Ice Hockey Championship - 5th IIHF Women's Junior World Championship tournament, held from December 31, 2011 to January 7, 2012 in Zlin and Prerov , Czech Republic . This tournament set several attendance records for this category of championships at once [1] . The Canadian team became the champion and won their second title, having defeated the US team in the final with a score of 3: 0. The bronze medal was won by the Swedish national team , who won the German national team in the match for third place - 4: 1 [2] .

The best scorer of the championship was the US national team player Hayley Scarup , who scored 11 (11 + 0) points for performance. German Francis Albl was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, Erin Ambrose , Canada's best defender, and Alex Carpenter, American , as the best striker.

At the preliminary stage, the matches of group A were held in the “ PSG Arena ”, and the matches of group B in the Winter Stadium of Prerov . The consolation round matches and the fifth match took place in the Winter Stadium. All playoff matches were held at the PSG Arena.

The 2012 Junior Women's Ice Hockey World Championship set attendance records for this category of championships [1] . In just 22 matches held in Zlin and Prerov , the tournament was attended by 17,480 people, on average, 794 spectators attended one game. The previous record was set at the first tournament in 2008 in Calgary . Then the total attendance was 9872 spectators, with an average of 494 fans per match.

In addition, the most visited match was held. The game for fifth place between the Finnish national team and the Czech national team in the Prerov Winter Stadium gathered an audience of 3250 people [5] . A past record was also set in Calgary. Then the final match was visited by 2156 spectators.
