Biography

Born in Mikhnovichi (now Kalinkovichi district , Gomel region , Republic of Belarus ) into a peasant family. By nationality - Belarusian . Since 1928, a member of the CPSU (b) , and then the Communist Party . In 1924-1927 he worked as chairman of the village council.

In 1927-1929 he served in the Red Army . In 1930-1939, he worked as director of the Shklovsk, Drissen and Mekhov MTS in the Byelorussian SSR . Since September 1939, Alexei is the head of the land department of the Pinsk region of Belarus.

Since July 1941 - a participant in the Great Patriotic War . Alex was part of the Pinsk regional underground party center, created underground party cells in the occupied territory, and carried out organizational work to resist the German invaders.

Since September 1942 - authorized by the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus in the Pinsk region, and since 1943 - secretary of the Pinsk underground party regional committee.

By a resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR of September 16, 1943 No. 1000, Alexei Efimovich Kleshchev was awarded the military rank of Major General [1] .

From April 27 to October 10, 1943, he served as commander of the Pinsk partisan formation, which conducted active military operations against the German units. The guerrillas of the compound attacked the German garrisons, carried out sabotage on German communications, and destroyed German equipment.

Since 1944, as the first secretary of Pinsky , and in 1946-1948 and the Polotsk regional committees of the Communist Party of Belarus. In 1948-1953 he was chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Byelorussian SSR [2] . In 1955-1960 - First Secretary of the Kokchetav Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.

He was elected deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 2nd, 3rd and 5th convocations. At the 20th Congress of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus, he was elected a member of the Central Committee and was a member of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Belarus (1948-1953).

Since 1961, retired.

After retiring, Alex lived in Moscow . He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery on site 7 [1] .

Awards and titles

For the skillful leadership of the partisan formation and the courage and heroism shown by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 1, 1944, Major General Alexei Kleshchev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 2211) [1] .

He was awarded three orders of Lenin , orders of the Red Banner , World War 1 degree and various medals

Memory

  • In honor of Kleshchev, the Pinsk Agrarian and Technical College is named [1] .
  • Kleshchev Street in Pinsk .
  • The street in Polotsk is named after Kleshchev [1] .
  • A memorial plaque was installed on the building of the Ryselkhoztekhniki in the city of Shklov , where he worked. [1]
