Content
History
The radio station first went on the air on April 22, 2002 under the name “POWER FM”. So “Sharmanka” is broadcasting from July 24, 2004. Initially, the broadcasting was distributed in the territory of Eastern and Central Ukraine, in Western Ukraine “Sharmanka” broadcast in only one city, Ivano-Frankivsk [3] . On July 21, 2006, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine and the radio station Sharmanka signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Principles of Interaction, the purpose of which was to bring the “quota of Ukrainian music on the air up to 50%” [5] .
In 2007, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine made claims to the radio station Sharmanka in connection with the failure to comply with the law on the 50% quota of the Ukrainian music product on the air [6] .
In 2008, the UNIAN news agency appealed to the Commission on Journalistic Ethics of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine regarding the unauthorized use of their news information by the Radio Station “Sharmanka” detected by the Monitoring Service of UNIAN [7] .
In 2009, Business Radio Group acquired Radio 4U from the Polish group RMF and, after re-issuing a license, began broadcasting Radio Sharmanka on their frequencies in Western Ukraine [8] [9] . After the change of ownership, former employees of Radio 4U had a conflict with the new management of the radio station due to the liquidation of the broadcasting studio in Western Ukraine and the suggestion that employees move to the head office in Kiev , the result of the conflict was the mass dismissal of the radio station employees [10] .
In 2011, Radio “Sharmanka” acted as the general radio partner of the Ukrainian national program “Person of the Year” [11] .
From July 10, 2017, Favorite Radio radio station changed its name to the original POWER FM, but not in rock format anymore.
