History
The railway St. Petersburg - Vologda was laid in 1905 . In September of this year, temporary train traffic was opened, and from October 1 - constant.
Station
The station was commissioned in 1905 and owes its appearance to the construction of the St. Petersburg - Vologda railway. Almost simultaneously with the station, the Cherepovets station and the engine depot were commissioned [4] .
By the middle of the 20th century, passenger traffic had increased significantly, and the station building could not cope with the load. In the 50s, a new two-story building was built near the old station.
In 1998, the reconstruction of the station building was completed. In 1999, major repairs were carried out [4] .
In 2004, the reconstruction of the building began, as a result of which in 2008 an extension of 53 meters was completed to the main building, which has a three-story middle part [5] .
