Dental tourism is a type of medical tourism , trips of people in need of comprehensive dental treatment to cities or countries that provide dental services on more favorable conditions than in their hometown (country). Such trips are called dental tours, and travelers themselves are called dental tourists.

The main goal of dental tourism is saving. Dental trips are made to those regions and clinics where the prices for dental treatment and prosthetics are significantly lower and the quality of services is at least as high as in the patient’s hometown or country.
Dental Tourism Geography
In Europe and America, dental tourism has existed for a long time and is widespread. For dental treatment, Americans prefer traveling to Costa Rica and Mexico, the British and Germans to Hungary and Poland, the Chinese and Japanese to Thailand. More recently, dental tourism began to develop in Russia and other post-Soviet countries.
Reasons for the popularity of dental tours
- The difference in the cost of the same dental services in different cities and countries, including the CIS, can reach several thousand dollars (especially for complex procedures).
- Travel companies can help in organizing dental tours, as well as with other types of tourism, including registration of transport, housing and other services.
