Biography
In 1950, Svetlana's mother and her daughter moved to the Estonian SSR . In the seventh grade, Svetlana enrolled in the fencing (rapier) section.
In 1967, she became the champion of the Estonian SSR (subsequently won the championship six more times) and was included in the USSR national team. The trainer is Claudius Yadlovsky [1] .
The following year, at the Olympic Games in Mexico City, she became the champion in the team event. At the 1969 World Championships in Havana, she lost only to the Romanian fencer Ilyana Dulaj-Drymbe, eventually becoming a bronze medalist in the individual event (she also received a silver medal in the team event), and was recognized as the athlete of the year in Estonia. In 1970 and 1971 she won the world championship in the team event.
In 1972, at the Olympic Games in Munich , she again became a champion in the team event. In the same year she became the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and was awarded the medal “ For Labor Distinction ”.
In 1973 she graduated from the Tallinn Pedagogical Institute .
Since 1977, she began her coaching career [2] .
The mother of two sons: Eduard Behr (b. 1975 ) and Cyril Lozovoy (b. 1988 ), who also became fencers.
In 2006 she was awarded the Order of the White Star of the 3rd degree.
Honorary member of the Estonian Olympic Committee .
