Biography
In 1918, he served in the Ministry of the Interior of Lithuania. From 1919 to 1923 - Head of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania. Since 1923, in the diplomatic service. He worked at the embassy in Germany . From 1929 to 1932, he worked at the Embassy at the Holy See . From 1932 to 1934 - Director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
From June 12, 1934 to December 5, 1938 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania .
In 1934, at the initiative of the Baltic countries, the Geneva Peace Agreement was signed. In 1935, he was elected a member of the International Diplomatic Academy ( Paris , France ).
Since 1939 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Italy .
In 1940, after Lithuania joined the USSR , in accordance with the directive of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, J. Urshbis, he was appointed head (chief) of the diplomatic service of Lithuania [1] . He held this post until his death in 1983. In this position, he dealt with issues of protecting the rights of Lithuanian citizens outside the USSR and was engaged in the restoration of Lithuanian state sovereignty.
On September 19, 1940, at the initiative of Lozoraitis, the “Lithuanian National Committee” (or the College of Lithuanian Diplomats) was created, which united Lithuanians who did not recognize Soviet power and refused to return. Lozoraitis was elected vice-president of the organization (former Prime Minister Ernestas Galvanauskas was elected president).
November 10, 1998 reburied in Kaunas.
