Biography
He graduated from school and college. In 1978-1980 he served in the army.
In 1986, Nicholas went to Pochaev to look after the grandfather-priest - Father Vyacheslav, who lived there alone. In Pochaev, Nikolai passed the first monastic obedience, where he felt the prayer help of his second grandfather, Pochayev’s monk, Father Svyatopolk.
Then he became the elder of the temple of the village of Zharki, Ivanovo region. Once in this corner of the Ivanovo Diocese , he said: “If I ever will be ordained, I will only ask to this temple, such is grace there. The icon is an unusual, miraculous image of the Kazan Queen of Heaven, the grave of two blessed, tortured by the Bolsheviks. "
In October 1988, in the Resurrection Cathedral of the city of Shuya, he was ordained deacon . After the sacrament, he served there for several days.
On May 31, 1989, deacon Nikolai Savchuk was tonsured a monk named Nestor in honor of Nestor the Chronicler .
On September 3, 1989, he was ordained a hieromonk and appointed to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin of the village of Zharki.
Father Nestor led an ascetic life, worship led in full rank. Soon the deacon Victor came to Father Nestor. The temple was restored and painted.
In the fall of 1992, Father Nestor traveled to Abkhazia for missionary and peacemaking purposes.
In the spring of 1993, the church where Father Nestor performed his ministry was attacked and icons were stolen. The kidnappers were caught and arrested. In the summer of the same year, the priest was tried to kill, but Nestor was miraculously saved.
Father Nestor independently organized Orthodox book shops at railway stations.
In the winter of 1993, Father Nestor traveled to Moscow to get money and organize a house for the disabled at the church. Before leaving, he said that he felt his last days, that he would soon die. He returned on December 30 very joyful, saying that he could now build a house that he wanted.
On the morning of January 1, 1994, Nestor’s father’s driver told a local policeman that he had killed a priest. The body of the priest was found lying in his cell in front of a large wooden cross.
Father Nestor is at peace in front of the altar of the temple, where he served for four years. The cassock , soaked with the blood of the father, Vladyka Ambrose blessed to be kept under the altar of the temple in Zharkov.
