Desiderio Navarro Pérez ( Spanish: Desiderio Navarro Pérez , b. 1948 ) - Cuban literary critic , art critic and culturologist , translator - polyglot (translates from 15 languages), founder and editor-in-chief of the social and cultural magazine Criterios (Criterios) .

Biography
Although Navarro does not have a university degree, he is one of the leading Cuban scholars. Since the 1960s , his studies and articles on literature , art , aesthetics and culture have been firmly gaining their place in various journals and anthologies , both national and foreign. His works have been published in Mexico , Costa Rica , Ecuador , Peru , Portugal , Spain , France , Slovakia , Poland , Russia , Hungary , Bulgaria , Estonia and the USA .
Author of several anthologies, including “Culture, ideology and society” (Cultura, ideología y sociedad, 1975, 1983), “ Anatoly Lunacharsky on culture, art and literature” (Anatoli Lunacharski. Sobre cultura, arte y literatura, 1981, 1985) , “Patrice Pavis: Theater and its Perception” (Patrice Pavis. El teatro y su recepción. Semiología, cruce de culturas y postmodernismo, 1994), “ Yuri Lotman : La semiosfera”, in three volumes, 1996, 1998, 2000), " Stefan Moravian . From aesthetics to the philosophy of culture ”(Stefan Morawski. De la estética a la filosofía de la cultura, 2006) and others.
Desiderio Navarro translates from English , French , German , Italian , Russian , Polish , Hungarian , Czech , Croatian , Slovak , Romanian , Bulgarian , Slovenian and Portuguese . Being a Marxist, he translated into Russian the Russian formalists and Mikhail Bakhtin, as well as Western European left-wing radical authors who were far from official ideology.
He is a member of the magazines Southern Atlantic Quarterly ( USA ), Escritos ( Mexico ), Kipus ( Ecuador ), Eutopías (Spain) and Entretextos ( Spain ).
