Biography

Born on December 16, 1872, came from noblemen of the Kiev province .

He was educated in the Vladimir-Kiev Cadet Corps, after which on September 1, 1889 he was admitted to the 1st Military Pavlovsk School . Released on August 10, 1890, as a second lieutenant in the army infantry with secondment to the Life Guards Grenadier Regiment . On August 5, 1891 he was transferred to this regiment by the same rank.

Then Sudravsky successively received the ranks of lieutenant (August 5, 1895), staff captain (May 6, 1900) and captain (August 5, 1903).

In 1912, Sudravsky completed a course at the Officer Rifle School and returned to his regiment. In 1913 he was appointed commander of the 2nd battalion of the Life Guards of the Grenadier Regiment, on December 6 of the same year he was promoted to colonel .

World War I

Soon after the outbreak of the First World War, Sudravsky was seriously wounded in a battle with the Germans on August 27, 1914 at the village of Tarnavka and died on October 6 from his wounds.

Family

His brother Boris also participated in the First World War with honors and died in battle on July 10, 1915.

Rewards

By the highest order of June 26, 1916, Sudravsky was posthumously promoted to major general (with seniority of August 27, 1914) and on August 16 was awarded the St. George arms .

Literary activity

Sudravsky gained great fame as a military historian. In 1909-1910, in the Military Collection, he printed an extensive list of "Knights of the Order of the Holy Great Martyr and Victorious George for 140 Years (1769-1909)." He also compiled “The History of the Life Guards of the Grenadier Regiment. 1756-1906. ”(St. Petersburg, 1906). He actively collaborated with many Russian periodicals ( Military Collection , Scout, etc.) and was one of the authors of the Sytin’s Military Encyclopedia .

Among other awards, Sudrawski had the following orders:

  • Order of St. Stanislav 2nd degree (1908)
  • Order of St. Anne of the 2nd degree (1912)
  • Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with swords and bow (November 10, 1914).
  • St. George's Arms (August 16, 1916)
