Samur Gasan oglu Novruzov ( May 25, 1938 , Ganja - September 24, 2001 , Baku ) - an Azerbaijani political and public figure; Rector of the Azerbaijan Institute of Physical Culture (1980-1987); Member of the Supreme Council and National Assembly of Azerbaijan (1991-2001).

Biography

Samur Hasan oglu Novruzov was born on May 25, 1938 in the city of Ganja . In 1956 he graduated from high school in the city of Baku , and in 1962 - Azerbaijan State University .

In his student years, he worked as a freelance correspondent for the Azerbaijan Ganjlari newspaper and the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Committee. He was a member of the national basketball team of Azerbaijan.

11 times he was the champion of Azerbaijan and Transcaucasia , the repeated prize-winner of all-Union competitions. He was awarded the title " Master of Sports of the USSR ." 1960-1971 he worked as a coach of the basketball team of Azerbaijan State University, the second coach of the national youth basketball team of Azerbaijan. At the same time, in 1964-1971, he held the posts of editor, editor-in-chief and head of the department in the State Committee on Radio and Television of Azerbaijan.

From 1971 to 1974 he studied full-time at the graduate school of the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU . In 1974 he defended his thesis, received a Ph.D. in historical sciences .

Since 1974 - instructor of the propaganda and agitation department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan .

In 1980-1987 - rector of the Azerbaijan Institute of Physical Culture . At the same time, he headed the department of history and political economy of the same institute (1985-1987), was a member of the board of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports (1980-1987).

Since 1987, he was the first deputy head of the propaganda and agitation department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan, and since December 30, 1989, he was the deputy minister of education of Azerbaijan. At the same time, from January 1, 1990, he voluntarily worked in the Republican organizing committee for the NKAR in the city of Khankendi .

Since June 1990 - Deputy Head of the Department of Party Organization and Personnel Work of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan; From December 1991 to May 1992 - Head of the Department for Work with Territorial Authorities and Administration of the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan .

Since August 1992, he has been a senior researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. He had a doctorate in political sciences , was a full member of the Russian Academy of Social Sciences, the Association of Journalists of Azerbaijan.

In 1991 he was elected to the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan . In 1993 ^{[ specify ]} , 1995 and re-elected in 2000 as a deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan .
