Justification of Symbols
The coat of arms of the Slyudyansk municipal formation in the language of allegories symbolizes the historical, natural and economic-geographical features of the municipal formation [1] .
The city of Slyudyanka is located on the shores of Lake Baikal on the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Baikal federal highway. The city got its name along the Slyudyanka River, named in turn in honor of the mica deposits discovered here. To develop phlogopite mica in the territory of the modern city, the Kultuksky prison was created in 1647, which was later transferred to another place. After that, only in 1802 did the settlement of Slyudyanskoye winter hut on the Circum-Baikal tract appear on this place, the city of Slyudyanka itself was founded in 1899 during the construction of the railway. The founding of the city as a railway village on the shore of Lake Baikal, as well as the role of railway transport in the development of Slyudyanka and the location of the city on transport highways, symbolize the crossed anchor and ax. The compound silver-black border is an allegory for a tourist attraction - the Circum - Baikal Railway , which starts from the station Slyudyanka I [1] .
The ring, stylized as mica crystals, clearly indicates the name of the city, and also symbolizes mining near phlogopite mica, marble and cement raw materials. The symbolism of the ring is inextricable unity, wholeness, an endless cycle. Also, a stylized ring is the main figure of the coat of arms of the Slyudyanka region and its inclusion in the coat of arms of Slyudyanka indicates that the city is the administrative center of the district.
The azure color of the shield field symbolizes Lake Baikal, famous for its clear water. The "seaside" location of the city - on the shore of a large lake also symbolizes a white flying gull. A white seagull in heraldry is a symbol of life and hope [1] .
A green hill (mountain) with two peaks reflects in the coat of arms the features of the mountainous terrain, the location of Slyudyanka in the foothills of the Hamar-Daban mountain system [1] .
