Biography

Vittorio Torre was born in Turin , where he later worked as a teacher.

In 1895 he became the unofficial champion of Italy (and the champion of Turin), winning Benjamino Vergani in the 6th republican tournament.

In 1900, playing with black pieces, he was defeated by Francesco Abbadessa in two games.

On November 28, 1909, he took part in a simultaneous game of Grandmaster Oldřich Duras on 20 boards. The game was held in Trieste . He also took part in a simultaneous game with Karl Schlechter on 19 boards, in Trieste in 1910.

He died on January 16, 1921 in Turin.
