America's Favorite Architecture

" Octagonal House " - the building of the American Institute of Architects

America's Favorite Architecture is a list of the 150 most popular buildings and structures in the United States of America according to the American Institute of Architects [1] .

In 2006 and 2007, the American Institute of Architects sponsored research to identify the most popular architectural structures in the United States. Harris Interactive conducted research first among members of the institute, and subsequently among other Americans. In the first part of the survey, each of the 2448 members of the institute was asked to name 20 architectural structures from 15 categories. 248 buildings, which were jointly named by at least six members, were listed for the next phase. 2214 people took part in it, each of whom was asked to choose from a list of 248 structures [2] . Voter preferences were processed on a special scale designed for study.

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the American Institute of Architects in 2007, he announced a list of 150 buildings and structures as " America 's Favorite Architecture " [2] . In this list, New York owns 32 objects - more than any other city [2] . There are 17 objects in Chicago and Washington , and in the US capital are 6 buildings that are in the top ten list [2] .

The list includes two buildings that were already destroyed at the time of listing: the World Trade Center (No. 19) and the Pennsylvania Station (No. 143).
