History

The area of modern Nofeha was inhabited over the last millennium. In these places, preserved buildings of the era of the Crusades and the period of the Mamluk rule, as well as the later period of Ottoman rule . Some of them still serve as housing, others were discovered during excavations carried out in the vicinity of Nofeh by the Israel Antiquities Authority in 2009 . [2]

The modern moshav Nofeh was founded in 1949 by immigrants from Morocco in the territory of the abandoned Arab village of Rantia. Its name is taken from one of the 12 stones in the breast breastplate of the Jewish high priest . Moshav Beit-Arif, which was founded not far from it, was also originally named after one of the breastplate stones (Ahlam), before adopting its current name. [3]
