Biography
Kuzma Belokon was born on October 24, 1915 in the village of Yurchenkovo (now the Chuguevsky district of the Kharkov region of Ukraine ) in a peasant family. He studied at the labor faculty. In 1937 he was called up for service in the Red Army . In 1940 he graduated from the military aviation school of pilots in Stalingrad . Member of the Great Patriotic War from the very beginning. Participated in battles in Ukraine , Stavropol , Caucasus , Kuban , and Crimea . In 1942 he joined the CPSU (b) . He served in the 27th High-Speed Bomber Aviation Regiment (801st Assault Aviation Regiment, 132nd Guards Assault Order of the Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Alexander Nevsky Aviation Regiment) as a pilot (11.1940 - 07.1941).
By July 1944, Captain Kuzma Belokon was the squadron commander of the 103rd assault air regiment of the 230th assault air division of the 4th Air Army of the 2nd Belorussian Front . By that time, he had made 93 sorties, striking at resistance nodes and clusters of enemy troops [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 26, 1944 for captain Kuzma Belokon was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the medal " Golden Star ” under number 4852 [1] .
In total, during the war years, Belokon made 170 sorties. On June 24, 1945, he participated in the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow . After the war he continued his service in the Soviet Army, taught at the Orenburg and Chuguevsky military aviation schools. In 1957, with the rank of colonel , he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Kharkov . He died on April 13, 2005, was buried in the Kharkov cemetery No. 3 [1] .
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , the Order of Alexander Nevsky , orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, two orders of the Red Star , the orders of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 1st, 2nd and 3rd degrees, as well as a number of medals. He is an honorary citizen of the village of Pechenegi of the Kharkiv region. The name Belokonya is carved on a memorial sign in the city of Chuguev [1] .
