Dzharkent district is an administrative unit of the Semirechensk and Dzhetysu regions and the Dzhetysu province , which existed in 1882-1928. The center is the city of Jarkent .

Administrative Division
In 1924, 8 volosts entered the Jarkent district:
- Aktogay (center - village Jalanash)
- Bayankolskaya (center - v. Narynkol)
- Berketmenskaya (center - v. Berketmen)
- Intifakskaya (center - Podgornenskaya station)
- Konur-Ulenskaya (center - st.Konur-Ulenskaya)
- Tortilskaya (center - the city of Dzharkent)
- Tuzkulskaya (center - loc. Karasaz)
- Usekskaya (center - Kostash station)
On February 17, 1926, the Usek volost was renamed Khojainovskaya. In the same year, the center of the volost was moved to the village of Frunzevka (formerly Koktal). However, on July 14, 1926, the volost was again called Usekskaya. In August 1927, the Usek volost was included in the Bereklinskaya volost. At that time, Aktam (center - village of Aktam), Berekelinskaya (center - village of Kyzyl-Espe) and Khorgos (center - village of Khorgos) volosts were created. At the same time, the Bayan-Kola volost was annexed to the Tuzkul [1] .
History
Dzharkent district as part of the Semirechensk region was formed in 1882. In 1922, the Semirechye region was renamed to the Dzhetysu region, and in 1924 - to the Dzhetysu province. On January 17, 1928, the Dzharkent district was abolished, and its territory was transferred to the Alma-Ata district .
Population
According to the 1897 census, 122.6 thousand people lived in the county. Including Kyrgyz - 66.6%, Uyghurs - 24.6%, Russians - 4.6%, Chinese - 2.1%. In the city of Jarkent, 16,094 people lived. [2]
