Biography

Simon Dent received his musical education at the Mozarteum Conservatory of Salzburg . In 1972, he received the award of the Salzburg festival "Mozart Weeks" ( German: Mozartwoche ). In 1974, Dent became the soloist of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra , in 1980 he took a similar position in the orchestra of the Bavarian State Opera [1] .

Simon Dent recorded several CDs as a soloist. Among his recordings are oboe concerts by composers of the Baroque and classical era, accompanied by the Pforzheim chamber orchestra conducted by Vladislav Czarniecki and the Polish chamber orchestra conducted by Wojciech Rajsky , as well as Robert Schumann and Benjamin Britten's plays for oboe solo [2] . Dent also performed as part of the Consortium Classicum ensemble. With his participation, the ensemble recorded a series of divertissements by Joseph Haydn [3] .

Simon Dent taught at the Richard Strauss Munich Conservatory . Among his students is the English horn of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Dominic Wollenweber [4] .

The daughter of Simon Dent is oboe player Klara Dent (b. 1973).
