Biography
Alexander Levin was born on February 14, 1960 in Moscow. In the 1980s, he suffered from the actions of the Soviet government for his own religious beliefs [1] .
In 1981 he graduated from the film department of the Moscow Institute of Culture .
Cinema
He worked at the studios Soyuzreklamfilm and Tsentrnauchfilm [2] .
From 1992 to 1998 - General Director of the Dixi Film Company.
Television
At the beginning of his activities on television, Alexander Levin took part in the development of television projects for various channels: “Endless Journey” ( RTR ), “National Interest” ( REN-TV , RTR ) [3] [4] , “Russian Gorki with Mikhail Taratuta” ( NTV ), “Process” ( ORT ) [5] . He acted as a producer of films from the series "Recent History" (NTV) - " Seventeen Moments of Spring 25 Years Later ", "Meeting Place 25 Years Later", "Heart of Yeltsin " and others [6] .
From April 1999 to April 2001 - the main producer of the NTV television company [6] . Replaced Leonid Parfyonov at this post [7] . He was invited by the leadership of the channel in order to increase the artistic (non-informational) broadcasting on NTV and to develop new formats for television programs [8] . He worked on NTV in this capacity until the arrival of Boris Yordan and his team on April 14, 2001 [9] .
After changing the leadership of the television company, in May 2001 he switched to TV-6 , where until January 2002 he held the position of general producer [10] .
Since June 2002, he has been General Director of CJSC Sixth TV Channel ( TVS ), he has been working in this position for three months [11] . From October 2002 to January 2003 [12] - First Deputy General Director, Chief Producer of CJSC Sixth TV Channel [13] .
After being fired from TVS, Alexander founded the independent television production company TeleFormat, producing programs for Channel One , STS , NTV and other channels, and in 2003-2004 he was the general producer of this television company [14] .
After Vladimir Kulistikov was appointed the head of NTV, the channel began a complete regrouping of the management team and the massive closure of the programs [15] [16] . In July 2004, at the invitation of Kulistikov, Alexander became deputy general director and chief producer of the NTV television channel [17] . He replaced Kirill Nabutov at his post [18] .
Levin’s policy as the main NTV producer from July 2004 to May 2005 was largely related to the involvement of experienced personnel working on the old NTV, or TV-6 and TVS [19] , but his experiments were unsuccessful: as by the beginning of 2005, almost none of his projects brought the expected results at the launch stage [20] . On June 1, 2005, he left his post at his own request [21] . According to media reports, the producer’s departure from NTV could be associated primarily with rating and broadcast failures of such television projects as “ School of Slander ” [22] , “Short Meetings” [23] , “Stress”, “The Hobbits” and “First night with Oleg Menshikov ” [24] .
TEFI Prize Laureate, member of the Russian Television Academy since 2001 [25] .
