Description of technology

Dynamic meditation, like other Osho meditations, such as kundalini meditation and nataraj meditation , is an active meditation technique in which physical activity plays a central role. Stages of physical activity naturally lead a person to a state of silence [4] . Performing with eyes closed or blindfolded, it includes five stages, four of which are accompanied by music [5] , specially written by Deuter .

At the first stage, a meditator for ten minutes randomly breathes through his nose [5] . The second ten minutes are reserved for catharsis . “Let everything that happens happens ... laugh, scream, jump, shake, everything you feel, everything you want to do, do it” [4] [5] . Then, for ten minutes, the participant makes jumps up and down with his hands up, shouting “Hu!” Every time he lands on the ground for the whole foot [5] [6] . In the fourth, quiet stage, the meditator suddenly and completely stops, remaining completely motionless for fifteen minutes, watching everything that happens [5] [6] . The last stage of meditation consists of fifteen minutes of celebration through dance [5] [6] .

Osho claims that dynamic meditation can be practiced by almost everyone. And that this technique is designed for a modern person, since all modern people are subject to significant psychological pressure and carry a large psychological burden, catharsis is simply necessary to get rid of this burden. After cleansing occurs, a person experiences significant relaxation [2] .

Osho also points out that dynamic meditation is a technique for preparing for meditation:

“Dynamic meditation is just a preparation for real meditation. In order for meditation to become possible, certain conditions must be fulfilled. Do not think that breathing and catharsis is meditation. This is just an introduction, an introduction. Real meditation begins only when any activity is stopped - the activity of the body and mind. ” [7]

Effect

According to Osho, dynamic meditation has a positive effect on both health and social activity. For example, he says that dynamic meditation is especially effective for people suffering from insomnia. The practice of dynamic meditation transforms anger into compassion, removes obsessive traits, and reduces aggressiveness and depression . Osho goes further, saying that most diseases are due to suppression and expression in catharsis leads a person to a more natural state: “Everyone who has been brought up in our society needs methods to eliminate anger, sex, greed, jealousy and envy. You are sitting on a volcano and a volcano ... could explode at any moment! If catharsis is allowed to happen - and this is what dynamic meditation is based on - the volcano will disappear. You will become intelligent. ” [2]

Research

An experimental scientific study of dynamic meditation has shown the significant effects of meditation on many clinical and business indicators in the short and long term. In particular, in the clinical field, the number of somatic complaints, cases of aggressive behavior and depression has decreased. A significant decrease in anger and an increase in positive self-motivation ( Eng. Self-enhancement ). In the corporate environment, there was a significant decrease in emotional exhaustion, increased resistance to overload, psychological stress, physical activity, and there was a significant increase in rational / cognitive abilities to cope with the situation. Dynamic meditation, having a duration of only an hour, gives the result immediately in many areas [2] .

Thus, this meditation technique can be applied in various psychological work - in psychiatric clinics or outpatient facilities, private practice, and also as part of professional training for employees within the corporation. The technique itself seems very powerful because of the strong and long-term effect, which is visible not only from the statistical data, but also from the subjective comments of the study participants [2] .

Prevalence

Dynamic meditation is widespread in Europe, both within the Osho movement and beyond. It has become an integral part in psychosomatic medicine and psycho-groups [8] . It is also used by doctors to accompany therapy.
