The Big Vysh is a river in Ukraine , a left tributary of the Sinyukha ( Southern Bug basin). It flows through the territory of Kirovograd and Cherkasy regions, within the Dnieper Upland , there are 6 reservoirs. Food mostly snow. On the river is the city Novomirgorod .

The valley is predominantly trough, marshy in the upper reaches; 4 km wide, up to 40 m in depth. The course is weakly winding, up to 20 meters wide. The slope of the river is 0.55 m / km.
Between the villages of Lekarevo and Shmidov, Novomirgorodsky district, the archaeological site of the late Paleolithic (36–38 thousand ln) “ Vys ” is located on the large canopy of the left bank of the river Big Vys [1] [2] .
Origin of title
The meaning of the pre-Slavic root “vis” can be interpreted as “overflow”, “flow” (akin to the Visor and Wisla hydronyms) [3] .
