Irma Agulievna Sokhadze ( Georgian ირმა სოხაძე ; November 28, 1958 , Tbilisi ) is a Soviet and Georgian jazz [1] and pop singer, TV presenter of Georgian television, poet and composer. People's Artist of Georgia .

She started singing from two years old. According to her mother, from the very beginning Irma participated on equal terms in a family ensemble consisting of parents and brother. This was the first recognition of her abilities, since in Georgia they take singing very seriously and for the sake of entertaining children they will not be accepted into the ensemble - you cannot spoil a song. Debut in five years. Irma was taken to television. The director sternly asked: “What are we going to sing?” And just a few days later, viewers of the republican program saw Irma on the screens, performing one Italian and one Georgian song [2] .

For the first time she toured in Moscow in the summer of 1965 in the Hermitage Garden with the song “ Orange Song ” [3] . This was the first performance of a well-known song. A song specially for Irma was written by Grigory Gorin and Arkady Arkanov and composer Konstantin Pevzner [2] .

In 1965, the first minion [4] of a young performer was released at Melody . It included “The Orange Song”, as well as the songs “It was in January”, “Top-Top” and “What kind of student is this?”.

In 1967, a 15-minute musical film “Recital” was shot on Polish television (directed by Konstantin Chichishvili ) [5] , in which the 9-year-old Irma performed jazz standards .

In 1969, she starred in the music television film Larisa Shepitko " At the thirteenth hour of the night ."

She studied at the Central Music School in Tbilisi for gifted children. In 1974 she graduated with a gold medal. Entered the conservatory in piano and at the same time in the musicology department of the theoretical faculty. In 1979 she graduated from the conservatory with honors.

In 1988, Irma Sokhadze first brought Diana Gurtskaya to the stage. In the same year she wrote a mono-opera, which was supposed to be staged at the Operetta Theater in Moscow, but the production was not carried out [6] .

For twenty-five years she worked on the First (state) Georgian television channel. She started as a junior editor. She was the editor of many copyright programs (Musical Octagon and others). Organized charity marathons on television (fundraising for orphans, for refugees from Abkhazia). She resigned from the post of deputy general director. Gives charity concerts in Tbilisi. In April 2008, she gave a concert in Moscow as part of “ people's diplomacy ”.
