History
Due to the impossibility of placing the AK-630 with the Vympel OMS on small displacement ships, for ekranoplanes , air cushion ships, small displacement boats, as well as for ships mobilized in wartime, a lightweight installation was required shooting
Unit A-219 was designed at TsKBI SOO, chief designer - M. S. Knebelman. The A-219 unit was officially put into service under the symbol AK-306 by Order of the Minister of Defense No. 0125 of June 23, 1980. Production is mastered at Tulamashzavod , mass production has been conducted since 1978 (according to the drawings of the chief designer).
By January 1, 1986, the USSR Navy received 125 AK-306 units.
Construction
Externally, the AK-306 is almost the same as the AK-630. Ammunition, ballistics, the internal structure of the barrel, belt feeding system, ball epaulet and much more was taken from it. The principal difference is that the AK-306 has a six-barrel automatic machine, the AO-18L, in which the barrel assembly is rotated not by a gas engine, but by an external electric drive that operates on AC power . Rotation from the motor shaft is transmitted through an electromagnetic clutch and gear reducer to the barrel assembly.
Sending ammunition into the barrel , locking the bore and extraction of liners are ensured by bolts, which, when the barrel block rotates, receive reciprocating motion along the guides of the central star, due to the fact that their driving rollers roll along the closed slot of the copier. The feed of the cartridge belt is produced by a feed star mounted on the feed shaft, kinematically connected with the block of barrels. There are 500 rounds in the tape. Due to the sharp decrease in the rate of fire from 5000 shots / min. up to 600 ... 1000 shots / min. AK-306 abandoned the water cooling system of the shafts.
The fairing installation is a cap made of fiberglass . Remote guidance from the systemPUS associated with the OPU-1 optical sight and the Lazur optical sighting station (there is no distance measurement to the target, a ballistic computer, an aiming line stabilizer). All the large parts of the installation and the actuators of the guidance are made of aluminum alloys, plastics and low-magnetic steel , thanks to which the installation was produced in one version - low-magnetic.
