Description

All representatives of the order, with the exception of some species of the Vsedeevye family, are lichenized . Unlichened species - saprotrophs , grow on dead lichens or on rotting wood. Tall is diverse. Fruit bodies are apothecia . Intermask tissues consist of usually branched paraphyses , most often with colored epithelium . Askeys are thick-walled, rarely thin-walled.

Anamorphs are poorly studied, pycnidial , not known to many representatives.
