Biography
Madi Begenov was born in 1916 in the sands of Sam, Adaevsky district, now the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan. During the Holodomor in 1931-1932, like many other Kazakhs, they were forced to migrate to Turkmenistan, from where it was sent to the front. Begeni Madi from the родаli tribe of the Adai tribe. After finishing the educational program, he worked as a foreman at the Jebel mine in the Turkmen SSR . In 1938, Begenov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He participated in the Soviet-Finnish war. In 1940 he was demobilized. Re-drafted in 1942 . Since December 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1943 he joined the CPSU (b) . By September 1943, Sergeant Begenov was in command of the 619th Infantry Regiment of the 203rd Infantry Division of the 12th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On October 25, 1943, during the crossing of the Dnieper near Zaporozhye in the course of repelling enemy counterattacks, he managed to determine the location of the machine-gun point. Correcting artillery fire, Begenov transmitted its coordinates, which helped to suppress the machine gun. In the course of further advancement of his unit, Begenov was one of the first to break into the enemy’s trench, personally destroying several German soldiers. Having broken into the second line of German defense, Begenov carried away fighters behind him, which contributed to the advance of the entire company. On November 1, 1943, Sergeant Begenov died in battle. He was buried in a mass grave in Zaporozhye, near the Dnieper hydroelectric station [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 19, 1944, Sergeant Madi Begenov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star [1] .
