Formation History
The battalion was formed at the end of 1941. When forming in the battalion there were 11 T-34 tanks and 19 T-60 [1]
In the army from January 1, 1942 to March 1, 1942.
At the end of December 1941 he was transferred to the 2nd shock army , where he was divided into three groups. The first group was given to the 366th Infantry Division , the second group to the 382th Infantry Division , the third to the 59th Infantry Brigade . These groups respectively supported the advance of the rifle units on January 7, 1942 and from January 13, 1942.
So, on January 22, 1942, the T-34 company supported the attack of the 2nd battalion of the 1267th Infantry Regiment of the 382nd Infantry Division in the area of the Brick Factory, on the same day another company supported the 327th Infantry Division , as a result of which the division left on the outskirts of Spasskaya Polisti. Another 4 tanks of the battalion broke into the Bridges. [2]
At the end of January, the remaining tanks from the battalion became part of the combined tank group of the army and were assigned to the 327th Infantry Division . In insufficiently prepared attacks, the combined group suffered heavy losses, so on January 27, 1942 the division attacked Spasskaya Polist , it did not achieve success, but the group lost 5 tanks, of which one T-34. The combined group of tanks participated in the attacks on Spasskaya Polist through February 14, 1942 (after the 327th Infantry Division went to Krasnaya Gorka, it operated with parts of the General Andreyev’s battle group). On February 14, 1942, the battalion surrendered the remaining tanks and personnel to the 160th separate tank battalion and departed for reformation to Rybinsk [3]
On March 5, 1942 it was renamed the 318th separate tank battalion and became part of the 113th tank brigade .
