Biography

In 1940 he graduated from the Melitopol Military Aviation School, and was sent for further service to the 130th High-Speed Bomber Aviation Regiment (13th Bomber Aviation Division), which was based at the Zyabrovka airfield near the city of Gomel ( Belarus ). As a navigator, A.N. Medvedev was included in the crew of the SB bomber, the pilot of which was A.A. Lokhanov , and gunner-radio operator V.K. Sudakov (all three subsequently became Heroes of the Soviet Union).
Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. The first combat mission took place a day after the start of the war - June 24, 1941. Due to the fact that in the first battles on the Western Front, the aviation regiment, in which Alexander Medvedev served, suffered heavy losses, the remaining and newly formed crews, including the crew of Lokhanov-Medvedev-Sudakov, were retrained in July-September 1941 on dive bombers " Pe-2 ", and on October 5, 1941 as part of the 146th aviation division for the first time bombed the enemy in these aircraft. He took an active part in the defeat of the Nazi troops near Moscow. It was shot down over the BSSR in late autumn, and for several weeks the wounded escaped from the rear of the enemy, left alone with nature. After being tested in Kazan through the counterintelligence line.
By order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR of September 3, 1943 No. 265 and Directive of the General Staff of the Red Army of September 4, 1943 No. Org / 10/138919, the 130th Bomber Aviation Regiment was transformed into the 122nd Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment. In the city of Semenov, Nizhny Novgorod Region, a bust is installed on the Heroes Alley. Family
His wife, Zinaida Vladimirovna (military paramedic), whom she met before the war and met at the front, died in 1998. There is a daughter, Tatyana, born in 1947, a graduate of the Moscow Aviation Institute, granddaughter Olga and grandson Alexander, named after the hero-grandfather.
