Description

Description of the coat of arms of the city of Chekhov [1] :

In a purple field with a narrow golden border, a silver gull flying to the right with upraised and outstretched wings

- Decision of the Council of Deputies of the city settlement Chekhov of November 15, 2007 No. 66/11.

The coat of arms of the Moscow Region is included in the State Heraldry Register of the Russian Federation under No. 3681 [2] .

The coat of arms of the city of Chekhov can be reproduced with a free part (a quadrangle adjacent to the upper and right edge of the shield with the figures of the coat of arms of the Moscow Region reproduced in it); with the status crown of the established sample.

Symbols

The emblem compositionally and stylistically echoes the emblem of the Chekhov municipal region, thereby symbolizing the commonality of interests and the inextricability of the history of the two municipalities. The emblem, approved in 1981, is taken as the basis for these emblems - the city and the district. The stylized image of Chekhov’s seagull allegorically indicates the origin of the name of the city - by the name of A.P. Chekhov , who lived for a relatively long time in the estate of Melikhovo , located on Chekhov’s land. Purple is a symbol of fame, nobility, dignity, in tune with the most commonly used color of theater curtains. Silver is a symbol of creativity, purity, perfection, peace and mutual understanding. The golden border surrounding the coat of arms symbolizes the city of Chekhov as the center of the eponymous district surrounding the city. Gold is a symbol of harvest, wealth, stability, greatness, intelligence, generosity.

History

The first coat of arms of Chekhov was developed by I.P. Shuvalov and A.Yu. Averyanov and approved on July 5, 1981 by the Decision of the Bureau of the CPSU Civil Code and the Executive Committee of the Chekhov City Council of People's Deputies [3] :

“The heraldic shield is divided into three parts. In the upper part, on a gold background, the Kremlin wall is depicted, symbolizing the city's belonging to the metropolitan area. Below, on a blue background, there is a stylized image of the Chekhov gull, indicating the origin of the name of the city - by the name of the great Russian writer A.P. Chekhov, who lived for a relatively long time in the estate of Melikhovo, located in the area. In the lower part of the shield, on a green field, a detailed sheet of paper and a printing matrix are vertically placed on it. This underlines another feature of the city, which operates the country's largest printing plant. A green background means that the surroundings of the city are rich in green lands and forests. ”
