Distribution and habitat

Gabrius nigritulus is a palearctic species that has been introduced into various parts of the world - in North America [3] , in the south of South America [2] , in New Zealand [4] .

Representatives are found in a variety of biotopes in which some rotting organic matter is present [2] , for example, decaying meat [5] . According to collection data, beetles in South America inhabit palm and notophagus forests , cactus groves, sclerophilous woodlands, human-littered spaces, and mossy sandy soils [2] .

Description

Males from females differ in the structure of the abdominal sections [2] . Representatives of this species are characterized by the following features [2] :

  • tenth segment of antennae transverse;
  • on the pronotum there are dorsal grooves, each of which has six points (tiny fossae);
  • fore tarsus shorter than lower leg .
