Hj-8

Hongjian-8 or HJ-8 ( Chinese ex. 红 箭 八号 , pinyin : hóngjiàn bā hào , pall .: Hongjian ba hao , literally: "Red Arrow-8") is a second-generation Chinese anti-tank missile system equipped with a semi-automatic command guidance system with the transmission of commands over the wire.

Description

The layout of the rocket has a number of features inherent in the American ATGM TOW and Franco-German Milan .

The two-stage ATGM has a cumulative warhead, the solid propellant rocket motor, the control rotors are in the tail section. Rocket launch is made from the transport and launch container.

Modifications

  • HJ-8 - the basic version.

  • HJ-8C - ATGM equipped with a new tandem warhead, the range of up to 4 km. The contact fuse is equipped with a nose rod.
  • HJ-8E - Digital guidance system, improved 90% accuracy.
  • HJ-8L - armor penetration to 1000 mm.
  • "Baktar-Shikan" - Pakistani version of the complex produced under license by the Research Laboratory. Khan (Kahuta) since the late 1990s [1]

Application

During the civil war in Syria, with the help of the HJ-8 anti-tank systems, two military transport helicopters MI-8 of the Syrian air force that were stationed at Neirab airport were destroyed [2] .

Also, there is information that Kurdish militants destroyed the M1A1 "Abrams" tank, missile HJ-8. The event occurred on October 20, 2017 in the province of Kirkuk (Iraq) [3]
