Geography

The territory of SMO stretched from the northwest to the southeast along the Manych-Gudilo lake. QS is located in the west of the Priyutnensky region within the Kumo-Manych depression . The Oktyabrsky SMO borders in the south with the Stavropol Territory , in the south-west with the Yashalt district of Kalmykia, in the north with the Rostov Region , and in the east with the Priyutnensky SMO .

Climate

According to climatic zoning, the settlement territory belongs to the zone of sharply continental climate. The amount of total solar energy is about 115 kcal / cm2. The duration of sunshine here is 2180-2250 hours per year. Summer is hot and very dry, winters are not snowy with an average absolute minimum of −28ºС. Inadequate humidification. The average annual rainfall is 300 mm on average. Evaporation ranges from 850-900 mm. The winds are mainly east and north-east. The territory of the settlement is periodically exposed to dry winds and droughts [4] .

Hydrography

A number of watercourses flowing in the October SMO, carrying their waters to Manych Lake: Kirasta , Chikalda , Dzenzi , Volochayka . In addition, the settlement has a number of ponds and lakes (Lake Kushchevatoye , Volochayka pond, etc.) [4] .

Soil

The soil cover is characterized by variegation. It is represented by dark chestnut and chestnut soils , their complexes and solonetzes [4] .

Economics

There are 14 peasant farms operating on the territory of the SMO; agricultural production is being carried out on personal subsidiary plots . The main area of ​​economic activity is agriculture with highly developed livestock farming . On arable land, occupying 60% of the farmland, grain, industrial and forage crops are cultivated [4] .
