Biography
Virineya Stefanovna Garbuzova was born on April 26 (May 9) 1914 in St. Petersburg in a working class family.
In 1939 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Leningrad State University with a degree in Turkic Philology.
In 1939-1954, he was a researcher at the State Hermitage Museum . [one]
In 1940, she published her first scientific work based on the materials of the “Book of Travel” of the 17th century Turkish author Evliya ебelebi , performing translations of the necessary fragments for this.
Since 1946, she began teaching at the Oriental Department of Leningrad State University, later moving to the Department of Turkic Philology for permanent work.
On April 19, 1956 she defended her thesis on the subject: “The Legend of Melik Danyshmend” as the oldest Turkic-literary monument in Asia Minor ” (published in a separate book in 1959 ). Since 1960 - associate professor of the department.
In 1975 she defended her thesis on the topic: "Turkish poetry of the XIII - first quarter of the XX century." , Receiving a doctorate in philological sciences.
Since May 4, 1979 - Professor of the Department of Turkic Philology of the Oriental Faculty of Leningrad State University (St. Petersburg State University). She conducted special seminars on reading and commenting on Ottoman literary texts as illustrations for her lecture courses. The author of about 100 scientific papers.
