Slavac ( Horv. Slavac ) or Slavich ( Horv. Slavić ) - ruler of Croatia in 1074-1075.
When King Petar Kresimyr IV died, civil strife broke out in the country, and part of the Croatian nobility, opposed to Dmitri Zvonimir , who aspired to the throne, elected ban Slavac king.
These elections against the will of the pope and the wishes of the rich Dalmatian cities led to the fact that the Norman forces were called up against Slavac. According to the old Croatian chronicles, Slavac was defeated on the Slave and thrown into prison [1] . Modern researchers believe that in this message we are talking about the defeat at the Slave of Petar Kreshimir, and Slavac was mentioned erroneously. Slavac was called the king in only a few documents and actually did not rule [1] . The period of the interregnum of 1074-1075 ended with the approval of Dmitri Zvonimir on the throne with the support of Pope Gregory VII . Zvonimir was crowned in the Salon on October 8, 1076, by the pope's envoy.
